Not going to San Francisco

A screening took place yesterday (Sunday 12 June) in San Francisco primarily for ‘bloggers and slammers’. Click here to see the invite. As I could not be present (I am now in New York on the first step of the last promotional tour before YES opens on June 24) the organizers, Mark Pincus and Davia Nelson, asked me, the previous day, if I would like to send the audience a message. I decided to send it in the form of a poem, to be recorded using the video on my cellphone and emailed to one of the organizers, who would then project it in the screening room. I wrote it fairly quickly and then passed a couple of very dynamic hours recording it, first in the hotel room and then on one of the piers by the Hudson, where the light is brilliant, reflected off the water. The image from the recording on the pier was wild and wonderful as Christopher got more and more adventurous with his camerawork, but the sound was crap because of the wind blowing into the tiny microphone, so I decided to send the other one. It was nice to turn around a mini-production (it ended up just over three minutes) in less than 24 hours. If you have Quicktime you can see what we did by using this link. To view the other video - the one with crap sound - that we shot by the river follow this link. Let me know which one you prefer.
