MASTERCLASS REPORT Thank you to all those who attended the launch of Sally Potter’s masterclass series "Where have all the auteurs gone" in London, October 2006 and have since sent back all their wonderful feedback. The first class created an impressive cross-cultural dialogue by bringing students and practitioners together from the UK, Estonia, Turkey, USA, Poland and France and additional classes have been requested across the world from Mexico to Canada. A private MySpace group has been set up where participants in the class have continued networking. Sally Potter has also written about her experience of the day-long masterclass in her blog. Here are a few comments from some of those who attended: “There are really no words for this kind of giving. Sally Potter proposed something as immense as transformation. The moment she said, in the beginning of class, that this day together could be a turning point, a major transition... she actually created that as possible for all of us.” Erica Berg “It was the most inspirational lecture I have ever been to…The lecture and Sally will continue to inspire and influence me as I grow, learn and develop as a person and a film-maker." Emma Swinton “Many thanks for Sally's generous and inspiring workshop. It was a real privilege to have such access to someone as talented and experienced as Sally.” Yulia Mahr “What Sally said about filmmaking was immensely helpful. One thing I found striking was that she saw the day as a service to the filmmakers in front of her. I also felt it was important she encouraged us to stand up against the culture of discouragement. Sally is a great inspiration to filmmakers, and also a great example of a person fulfilling their potential.” Naomi Wright To pre-register for additional masterclasses please email your name to masterclass@sallypotter.com with subject heading “Where have all the auteurs gone?” to be put on our (no obligation) mailing list. We will not pass on your email address to other groups.
