As an ordinary film watcher, I was mesmerized while watching YES. I do not remember having seen anything by you before. I have not seen anything by your cast also. For me the most memorable scenes were the ones during which we were offered an unspoken speech. The aunt's dying scene made me feel helpless. Shouldn't it been otherwise, I thought, as there was almost no movement and no sounds except for the words we heard? I, then realised that it was Sally Potter's magic... I do not feel like I can comment on the choices of colour and music throghout the film; as I am no expert. However, they all worked on me and helped me feel highly of myself; I felt like a human!!! I would also like to express my admiration to the cleaner (Ms. Shirley Henderson), she was excellent...
I final note about the "Turkish" reaction to the movie: I heard no negative comments at all about the Armenian actor (who wast just as succesfull as the others), the storyline or the religious / cultural dimensions. Most liked the film very much. Surely, it was not seen by the crowd, who were busy watching the usual Hollywood stuff.
