dear sally, i have just returned from the cinema here in London, having watched your beautiful movie 'Yes' and i have many many things to say , but for my part i just wanted to thank you, for your ingenuity, for your passion, for sharing your insight, gift and intelligence, for writing an important film , that enocurages a crucial debate, for creating characters of such flesh and blood that the viewer shares their pain, their hopes , their fears, for opening our eyes to the things we did not know or realise, for showing it from multiple points of view, for giving every being a supreme presence, responsibilty and voice in your work. and for talking of and to God... I myself am a writer of poetry and songs and as I work on my one woman show i hope with all my soul to create a piece that informs , provokes and moves as well as yours did. all with a huge smile and some well timed laughs along the way. and as an actress, please God/universe/source/mother / son may i find my way to a piece of writing so beautiful that it shall be remembered for all of time, and may it find its way to me. Miss Potter, your film has left me speechless, for where i am right now with my own life and questions, you have provided me with a means to clarify my own answers. and thank you above all for the hope, not just that at the end of the film, but to all of us who aspire to have our work carry a truth and a meaning.
