Which 9/11?

Although September 11, 2001 was never mentioned in the film, it seems to be understood that the relationship between HE and SHE mirrors the present East-West conflict. Sally Potter says that she started writing the screenplay on September 12, 2001.
After the events of “9/11/2001” a whole new lexicon was circulated by the propagandists of the bush administration, and eagerly adopted. The new glossary was widely echoed by the parrot journalists. “Post 9/11”, “the world changed on 9/11”, “WMD’s”, The “War on Terror”.
Actually, the only thing that changed on 9/11 was that the rogue elephant was stung in the ear, and he started to trample the jungle around him. The terror felt by the unfortunate victims of the Twin Tower attacks had been well known to many people around the world, and much of it had been supplied by the United States.
Most people remember where they were, and what they were doing, at the time of certain historical events in their lives. Many people remember exactly where they were when John Kennedy was murdered. Younger generations might remember the end of the Vietnam debacle, or the fall of the Berlin wall.
I remember when Kennedy was murdered, and I can remember That Malcolm X said that it was the chickens coming home to roost. That was widely misunderstood. But it can be argued, and has been said, that if you live by the sword you will die by the sword.
On September 11, 2001, while watching the horrible events on TV, those same words came into my mind. The chickens had come home to roost. The US had been trampling on, and interfering with, the people of the Middle East for decades. How would we have felt about the presence of an enormous standing army of occupiers in our backyard?
But the “9/11” that stands out most vividly in my mind, and the one I will never forget, is September 11, 1973, when the CIA plot, masterminded by the snake Nixon and his partner in crime Kissinger, murdered Salvador Allende, the new Chilean Democracy, and the freedom of the people of Chile for two decades.
So, no, the world did not change on 9/11. It continues. The so called “war on terror”, which is the worst oxymoron imaginable, is just a smokescreen for the neocons in Washington to hide behind.
Our myopic view of history makes it easy for the rich and powerful to lead us repeatedly down the same paths. We never learn.
So, we have already had two “9/11’s”. They were both of our making. When will the next one happen?
